“Hands on work is what I like best. As a massage therapist and athletic trainer, I like to feel the tissue that needs work. Working by feel gives me a greater understanding of what needs to change to get the results the patient needs to improve their condition.”

I became an Athletic Trainer because…

“As a former high school athlete I was injured a lot, my ankles in particular. I was worked on one day by an athletic trainer. When I came into the training room I was on crutches with a huge swollen ankle. When the athletic trainer was done, I walked out without even a limp. That was it for me. I have wanted to be an athletic trainer ever since. I seemed to have a natural gift for massage even before I ever went to massage school. I was told I should get trained in massage. So one day I decided to go to massage school.”

What’s most exciting about my job?

“The thanks people give me and the gratitude in their voice, that is what makes me want to come to work every day. I love to know that I am making a difference in people’s lives. Whether it is helping someone walk normal again after a knee replacement or rehabilitating an injured athlete and seeing them go on to finish the season, that is what makes doing what I do fun every day.”

Interests

“I enjoy hiking in the mountains, backpacking, dog training, basketball, wood working and traveling.”
